A Career with Point72’s Economist Team The Economic and Strategy Research team at Point72 conducts proprietary research on all major economies to support the long/short equity and macro businesses. Its analyses and forecasts inform our portfolio managers’ investment strategies. About The Economist Internship You will join an investment management organization that operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. During your time at the firm, you will gain exposure to: Rigorous data compilation and statistical analysis of Asian economies and financial markets Building spreadsheets for economic data relating to Asian countries Contribute to thematic research shared internally with investment teams Using economic data sets and market data platforms for data mining Internship Program at Point72 In addition to the learning and development you’ll receive in your day-to-day role with your team, as a part of our internship program you will: Work alongside your fellow interns and be mentored by experienced professionals Meet your peers through designated intern programming, volunteer opportunities, and social events Attend sessions with senior leaders discussing their expertise and career paths Get hands-on access to the wealth of tools and resources that Point72 employees use everyday Interact with groups and functions with unique responsibilities and perspectives on our industry Develop technical, writing, and presentation skills Participate in networking opportunities across the firm What's Required Currently pursuing or having completed a PhD, MBA, master’s, or bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, business, or a related field Demonstrated grounding in macroeconomics, microeconomics, econometrics, and statistics, with the ability to apply AI-enabled tools responsibly to support research, analysis, and workflow efficiency Knowledge of the Chinese economy, with the ability to analyze both official macroeconomic data and corporate financial statements, connecting aggregate-level economic trends with company-level fundamentals Deep understanding of economic concepts and statistical models Ability to conduct economic data analysis Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint Strong analytical, writing, verbal communication, and technical skills Results-driven mindset and desire to have a career in the finance sector Commitment to the highest ethical standards About Point72 Point72 is a leading global alternative investment firm led by Steven A.
