AI Engineer Intern – Agentic Applications

AiryHR is building AI-native recruiting, Core HR and payroll products for companies across Asia. We are looking for a hands-on engineer who has built AI agents or MCP integrations and wants to apply those skills to real HR workflows. You will write code, connect systems, test agent behaviour and deliver working features. WHAT YOU’LL DO • Build AI agents for recruiting, employee operations and payroll workflows. • Develop or integrate Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and clients to connect agents with business systems, APIs and databases. • Implement tool calling, structured outputs, workflow state and human approval steps. • Make workflows reliable through validation, error handling, retries, logging and automated tests. • Build evaluations to identify incorrect outputs, failed tool calls and unsafe actions. • Apply authentication, access controls and audit trails when handling employee and payroll data. • Work with HR experts and engineers to turn operational requirements into deployed features. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR • You have personally written code for at least one working AI agent or MCP integration. Internship, independent and open-source projects count. • You can demonstrate the system, explain your own contribution and discuss its limitations. • You can build and debug applications in Python or TypeScript/JavaScript. • You have experience connecting LLMs to tools, APIs or external data. • You understand backend fundamentals, including APIs, authentication, databases and error handling. • You can take a feature from implementation through testing and deployment. • Professional English is required; Chinese is a plus. • Students and recent graduates with strong hands-on projects are welcome. NICE TO HAVE • Experience with both AI agents and MCP. • Experience with agent frameworks, RAG, evaluation tools or execution sandboxes. • Experience with enterprise integrations, permissions or sensitive business data. • Familiarity with HR, recruitment or payroll workflows. WORK ARRANGEMENT Singapore-based hybrid internship. Candidates able to work full-time from a location in Singapore’s time zone (UTC+8) may also be considered. Candidates working in Singapore must have valid work authorisation. WHAT TO INCLUDE IN YOUR APPLICATION Share a GitHub repository, demo, technical write-up or project walkthrough showing an AI agent or MCP integration you built. Explain what you implemented, how it connects to tools or systems, and one failure case you diagnosed and fixed. Confidential source code is not required.
