Role Summary The Assistant General Manager, Trade will serve as the commercial section leader, driving the overall strategic vision, trade lane profitability, and operational performance across assigned long-haul trade routes. Reporting directly to executive trade leadership, this high-impact position holds full P&L accountability for a mega-scale trade portfolio. The ideal candidate will blend traditional trade management expertise with modern, data-driven yield optimization strategies. Key Responsibilities Strategic Trade Leadership: Formulate and execute trade lane strategies focused on market growth, optimal cargo/customer mix, and yield optimization. Make decisive, value-accretive rate policy adjustments to achieve top-line and bottom-line target budgets. P&L & Portfolio Performance: Take full ownership of the assigned trade P&L. Leverage advanced data analytics, market intelligence, and modern tools to maintain a competitive market edge and drive financial performance above industry benchmarks. Market Expansion & Network Innovation: Lead market entry and route expansion initiatives, drive customer diversification, and challenge the status quo to continuously improve product setups, work processes, and service delivery. Executive Alignment: Maintain close collaboration with regional and global commercial leaders to align trade strategies with wider corporate growth objectives and values. Candidate Requirements Experience: More than 10 years of progressive trade management or commercial strategy experience within a global container shipping liner. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field. Core Competencies: Proven track record in P&L management, yield management, rate policy execution, and trade lane expansion. Skills: Strong analytical mindset, excellent multitasking capabilities, and outstanding executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills.
