Role Overview
Our client, a global commodities trader is looking for a Commodity Management Systems Implementation Lead responsible for leading the global strategy, implementation, enhancement, and support of commodity management platforms and related business applications across the organization. This role reports to a head of IT, and they will drive large-scale technology transformation initiatives that support the end-to-end commodity value chain, including trading, risk management, logistics, supply chain, inventory management, settlements, finance, and reporting.
The successful candidate will combine expertise in system implementation, project management, business analysis, application support, stakeholder management, vendor management, and people leadership to deliver scalable technology solutions that enable business growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Commodity Management Systems Strategy & Implementation
Lead the planning, design, implementation, and continuous improvement of commodity management systems across global business operations
Define and execute the global roadmap for commodity management platforms, ensuring alignment with business strategy and operational objectives
Manage end-to-end implementation projects, including requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, deployment, training, and post-go-live support
Drive system transformation initiatives, process standardization, and automation across commodity trading and supply chain operations
Ensure systems effectively support trading, risk management, logistics, inventory, contract management, settlements, finance, and reporting functions
Oversee integration of commodity management systems with ERP, finance, market data, data warehouse, and downstream applications
Project & Program Management
Lead multiple strategic technology projects and transformation programs simultaneously
Establish project governance, delivery plans, budgets, resource allocation, risk management, and performance tracking
Coordinate cross-functional teams including business users, technology teams, vendors, and external consultants
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with business requirements
Provide project updates and executive reporting to senior leadership and steering committees
Business Analysis & Process Improvement
Partner with business stakeholders to understand operational challenges and business requirements
Conduct process reviews and identify opportunities for optimization, automation, and digital transformation
Facilitate workshops and requirement-gathering sessions across global business functions
Translate business requirements into functional specifications and implementation deliverables
Drive adoption of best practices and standardized business processes
Application Support & Service Delivery
Own the support and operational stability of commodity management systems and related applications
Lead application support teams responsible for incident management, problem resolution, change management, and system enhancements
Establish support processes, service level agreements (SLAs), and governance frameworks
Monitor system performance, availability, and user satisfaction
Drive root cause analysis and continuous service improvement initiatives
Vendor Management
Manage relationships with software vendors, implementation partners, and consulting firms
Lead vendor selection, RFP processes, contract negotiations, and commercial discussions
Monitor vendor performance, project delivery quality, and service levels
Ensure vendors meet business objectives, compliance requirements, and technology standards
Manage technology budgets and optimize vendor investments
Analytics & Business Intelligence
Lead initiatives to enhance reporting, analytics, and business intelligence capabilities
Partner with data and analytics teams to develop dashboards, KPIs, and operational reporting solutions
Promote data-driven decision-making through tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or equivalent platforms
Support enterprise data management and reporting strategies
Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary liaison between business and technology teams
Build strong relationships with stakeholders across trading, operations, supply chain, logistics, finance, risk, and executive management
Facilitate governance meetings, steering committees, and business reviews
Drive user engagement, change management, and adoption of new technology solutions
People Leadership
Lead and develop a team of project managers, business analysts, application support specialists, and system consultants
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Provide coaching, mentoring, and career development opportunities
Support workforce planning, succession planning, and performance management activities
Qualifications & Experience
Required
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related discipline
10+ years of experience implementing and supporting commodity management, trading, supply chain, or enterprise business systems
Proven experience leading large-scale global system implementation programs
Strong project and program management experience
Extensive business analysis and process improvement experience
Experience managing enterprise application support functions
Demonstrated success in vendor and stakeholder management
Experience working within commodities trading, energy, metals, mining, agriculture, or supply chain-intensive industries
Preferred
Experience with commodity management platforms, CTRM/ETRM solutions, ERP systems, and integrated business applications
Experience with data analytics and PowerBI tool
PMP, Prince2, Agile, Scrum, ITIL, or equivalent certifications
Experience leading global and cross-regional implementation projects
