Skills And Competencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Demonstrated proactiveness, adaptability, and eagerness to learn, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Proficiency in reading and analyzing source materials in an additional language is an advantage
Demonstrated interest in monitoring regulatory developments, conducting compliance research, and interpreting regulatory frameworks to support data collection, validation, and management activities
Strong interest and/or exposure to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), Politically Exposed Persons (PEP), Sanctions, or Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) research is a plus
Proficiency in developing dashboards, data models, and visualizations using Power BI, Power Query, or similar tools to generate actionable business insights
Demonstrated understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with experience using AI tools to streamline workflows, enhance operational efficiency, and support data-driven decision-making. Interest in responsible AI practices, including risk management, governance, and ethical AI use
Education
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Economics, Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field
Responsibilities
Support the management, maintenance, and enhancement of the Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) and Sanctions Connect databases
Conduct research on relevant PEP, sanctions, and regulatory requirements to identify opportunities for data enhancement, quality improvements, and expanded coverage
Assist in developing and maintaining high-quality documentation, including internal procedures, data collection methodologies, business rules, and data definitions
Leverage, develop, and implement AI and automation solutions to improve operational efficiency and enhance recurring reporting processes
Analyze data, identify trends, and contribute insights that support business objectives and data quality initiatives
Contribute innovative ideas and recommendations to improve workflows, processes, accuracy, and overall operational effectiveness
About The Team
Our Data Estate team is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the quality, accuracy, and completeness of the data that powers Moody's products, research, and customer workflows. We support internal stakeholders by validating, enriching, and managing global datasets, helping ensure that our data solutions deliver trusted and actionable insights to clients worldwide.
As a Summer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience working on global data initiatives spanning multiple geographic regions and business domains. You will collaborate with experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop practical skills in data management, regulatory research, analytics, and AI-enabled solutions. This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn how high-quality data supports decision-making across Moody's while contributing to the continuous improvement of our data operations.
Moody's 10-week summer internship program is a premier opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a hands-on learning experience, guided by Moody's commitment to integrity, excellence, and insight. The program takes place each summer from June – August and positions are available for undergraduate and select graduate students. Internships are full-time, offering a comprehensive view of Moody's business and culture, and a chance to build professional and technical skills. Programmatic elements include networking, mentorship, leadership speaker series and volunteering events. Interns complete project work determined by their team that have real impact, fostering a sense of accomplishment and professional growth. Throughout the internship, participants receive mentorship from Moody's professionals, gaining insights into diverse career paths and cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the company. Networking events and workshops further enrich the experience, providing a platform for professional development and collaboration. As a Moody's intern, you will gain real-world experience, turn inputs into actions, and be integral part of the team.
