About this internship
Role Overview
As a Feeder Procurement Intern, you’ll take an active role in supporting key procurement activities that are essential to our regional shipping operations. You’ll gain hands-on experience in managing tender processes, responding to rate enquiries, invoicing and payment workflows. In addition, you'll assist in preparing and analyzing weekly reports that help guide strategic procurement decisions.
This internship offers you a unique opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals, understand the procurement aspect of the shipping industry, and contribute to meaningful projects in a fast-paced, global environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing and supporting quarterly tender exercises for third-party feeder (3PF) operators across Southeast Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, and Northeast Asia
Assist to gather and compare tender quotes, and support negotiation efforts to secure competitive rates (Key elements to consider for nomination - space, rates, service reliability)
Follow up with internal and external parties to ensure timely cargo movement from transshipment hubs
Review and coordinate any new ad-hoc shipments or barge arrangements needed to clear cargo efficiently.
Handle rate enquiries, assist in space protection coordination, and help maintain contract documentation (e.g., 3PF CCA contracts)
Prepare and update reports for management, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Liaise with various internal stakeholders i.e. Head Office, Regional Office, local agencies, feeder operators etc to support invoice and payment-related matters
Assist in resolving invoice/payment escalations in coordination with relevant teams
Handles escalation related to invoice/payment related matters to third party feeder operators
Organize and maintain records of negotiated rates to support smooth invoicing processes
Generate and assist in the preparation of weekly reports for operational insights
What We’re Looking for:
Ability to commit at least 6 months – full time internship
Proficiency in MS Excel (i.e. vlookup/pivot table)
Proactive and team player
Organized and detail oriented
