Global Operations Intern – International Drug Testing Alcotech is a Singapore-based company specialising in drug and alcohol testing, medical devices and diagnostic products. We operate a global drug-testing programme, coordinating workplace and pre-employment testing for candidates in countries around the world. We are looking for a Global Operations Intern to help manage these international cases from Singapore. You will gain hands-on exposure to both international operations and the professional practice of workplace drug testing. You will learn how drug-testing programmes are conducted in accordance with recognised international standards, including exposure to U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) drug-testing requirements, chain-of-custody procedures, specimen collection, laboratory coordination and programme administration. You will also gain exposure to working with SAMHSA-certified laboratories and internationally recognised testing partners. You will help coordinate real cases involving candidates, collectors, clinics, toxicology laboratories, couriers and corporate clients across different countries. What You Will Do Learn Professional Drug Testing Operations You will receive high-quality, structured training in drug and alcohol testing operations and learn how professional testing programmes are managed. This may include: Learning drug-testing procedures based on recognised international standards, including how to maintain proper chain of custody Understanding U.S. DOT drug-testing requirements and workflows Understanding the roles and responsibilities of a specimen collector and a Designated Employer Representative (DER) Hands-on experience with the complete testing process from collection through laboratory analysis and reporting Understanding specimen integrity and collection-site procedures Learning how testing laboratories analyse and report specimens Understanding the differences between screening and laboratory confirmation Communicating professionally across different countries and time zones with international background-screening companies, corporate clients, specimen collectors and toxicology laboratories Learning how positive, negative, invalid and other test outcomes are handled within a professional testing programme Learning about confidentiality and the proper handling of sensitive testing information. Manage Global Drug Testing Cases Receive and manage international drug-testing requests Review candidate locations and testing requirements and determine suitable testing arrangements Coordinate cases from initial request through testing and final report Review testing and chain-of-custody documentation Monitor active cases and proactively follow up on delays and outstanding actions Coordinate and communicate professionally with candidates, clients, collectors, clinics and laboratories across different countries and time zones Expand and Manage Our Global Network of International Collectors & Laboratories Identify suitable collectors, clinics and laboratories around the world Contact and onboard new collectors and drug-testing partners Work with clients, candidates and local collectors to arrange appointments Maintain our international network of collectors and drug-testing partners Compare providers based on location, responsiveness, reliability and cost Assist with improving our internal processes and operating procedures Handle International Logistics Some international cases require us to send testing kits or collection supplies overseas. You will help to: Arrange international shipment of testing equipment and supplies Track shipments and confirm delivery Coordinate replacement shipments where required Work with couriers and overseas partners to resolve delivery issues Assist with customs-clearance problems and other logistical challenges Solve Operational Problems International operations do not always go according to plan. You may need to help resolve unexpected situations such as: No suitable collector near the candidate A collector or candidate suddenly becoming unavailable International shipment delays Appointment cancellations Missing documents or test reports Problems with specimen collection or chain-of-custody documentation Laboratory queries or incomplete testing information We are looking for someone who enjoys finding solutions rather than simply reporting problems. Commercial & Business Operations You will gain exposure to the commercial side of the programme, including: Recording costs from overseas collectors and laboratories Checking invoices and maintaining pricing information Tracking completed cases for customer billing Assisting with monthly invoicing Comparing service-provider costs across different markets What You Will Learn By the end of the internship, you should have practical exposure to: Workplace drug-testing programmes U.S. DOT drug-testing processes Specimen collection Chain-of-custody procedures Toxicology laboratory workflows Drug-testing documentation and reporting Global operations management Cross-border logistics Client communication Operational problem-solving You will gain an unusual combination of technical drug-testing knowledge and international business operations experience. Strong interns will progressively be given responsibility for managing their own portfolio of international cases under supervision.
