About this internship
Project Description:
This internship offers an exciting opportunity to help centralise engagement records across 106 government agencies. Our feedback and engagement data currently reside across various formats, including Excel sheets, Word documents, and emails stored on SharePoint.
Project Objective:
The objective is to consolidate this into a single platform (Databricks) to enable the team to query and analyse it effectively, and to establish a pipeline for new data to be ingested on an ongoing basis.
The core of the work involves reviewing our existing engagement data, understanding its structure and content, and preparing it for ingestion into Databricks.
The intern will use AI tools to assist with the extraction and transformation of unstructured data, and will help establish a repeatable pipeline so that future data from SharePoint can be ingested systematically. Once the data is in place, the intern will also support the team in exploring how it can be queried to surface insights, such as identifying agencies with common interests or recurring feedback themes.
The intern will also be expected to surface new insights from having a holistic view of our data.
Requirements
We welcome applicants from any discipline, including social sciences, public policy, business, and information studies. This role does not require a background in computer science.
What we value most is someone who is organised, detail-oriented, and able to think carefully about how information should be structured to be useful to a non-technical team.
Some familiarity with Excel and basic data handling is expected. Prior experience with Python, SQL, or SharePoint would be advantageous but is not a requirement.
Experience in ETL processes or database management would be an advantage, though candidates without this background are equally welcome to apply. The intern will be expected to pick up Databricks as part of the role.
