    About this internship

What The Role Is The Maintenance Enforcement Division (MED) implements Singapore's new Maintenance Enforcement Process (MEP), which aims to improve the enforcement of maintenance orders and achieve more sustainable outcomes for families. As a relatively new division, MED is building its data and analytics capabilities to evaluate the effectiveness of the MEP and support evidence-based policymaking. We are looking for curious, resourceful and motivated interns who can commit on a full-time basis for at least one month and start as soon as possible. What You Will Be Working On Interns will support MED's programme evaluation, data analytics and special projects. Depending on their skills and interests, this may include collecting and analysing structured and unstructured data, conducting research and literature reviews, exploring AI-assisted analytics and automation, observing conciliation sessions between Applicants and Respondents, and creating communications materials such as case digests, infographics and explainers. With guidance from MED officers, interns will gain hands-on experience in public policy, frontline operations and digital transformation, and produce tangible work that contributes to the Division's ongoing initiatives. All work involving sensitive case information, personal data or AI tools will be subject to applicable confidentiality, data protection and approval requirements. What We Are Looking For We welcome students from Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Law, Communications, Business or related disciplines. You should have good analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, and the maturity and sensitivity to handle matters involving families and vulnerable individuals. Proficiency in Excel, Tableau or Power BI, Python, R or SQL, or familiarity with generative AI tools, is advantageous but not mandatory, and students with stronger AI or technical expertise are particularly encouraged to apply. Prior knowledge of family law or maintenance enforcement is not required.
