About this internship
The intern will support the Volunteers & Outreach Team in developing and delivering initiatives that engage the public and inspire greater understanding and action for marine conservation. The intern would work closely with the team across a range of workstreams, including volunteer engagement, development of marine-related programmes, events, campaigns and other engagement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Volunteers Management
Assist in the coordination and engagement of various volunteer groups involved in marine conservation and public engagement initiatives.
Support the development and implementation of initiatives aimed at growing and strengthening Singapore Oceanarium’s volunteer community.
Assist with volunteer recruitment, onboarding, briefing, deployment and engagement activities.
Support the preparation of volunteer communication materials, briefing documents, schedules and other operational or admin resources.
Support the team in collecting and organizing volunteer feedback and engagement initiatives to strengthen volunteer retention and participation.
Outreach Management
Assist in the planning and execution of public outreach programmes, campaigns, events and other forms of community outreach activities.
Support the development, planning and execution of outreach initiatives that promote literacy, conservation awareness and positive environmental action.
Support the development of educational materials, interactive activities, engagement tools and other outreach resources for different audiences.
Research marine conservation topics and translate relevant information into engaging and accessible public-facing content.
Support initiatives designed to encourage audiences to take meaningful action for marine conservation.
Identify and explore the potential of new and innovative approaches to engage different audiences.
Requirements:
Diploma/Degree in Life Sciences or equivalent.
Prior experience in volunteering, event support, education, outreach, community engagement or environmental initiatives would be useful.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate information clearly to different audiences.
Adaptable and hands-on, comfortable in supporting both planning and on-the-ground execution.
Able to work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers, external partners and members of the public.
Passion for wildlife conservation, biodiversity and connecting with people for advocacy.
