    About this internship

About Patient Advocacy & Support Office (PASO) The Patient Advocacy & Support Office (PASO) works to shape care together with patients, carers, and the community. We champion person- and family-centred care across NUHS, and partner with patients, carers, and families to ensure their lived experiences inform service design, quality improvement, and healthcare delivery. We do this through activating communities, building capabilities, and catalysing cultural shift across the system. Our work spans three key areas: Patient Experience – ensuring care is compassionate, responsive and coordinated across NUHS institutions Patient Advocacy – engaging patients, carers and families as partners in shaping care Carer Advocacy – recognising and supporting carers as key contributors in the healthcare journey Role Overview As a Communications intern, you will support PASO’s work across these three areas through storytelling, communications, and content development. You will be part of a team working to strengthen patient and carer voices within the healthcare system. You will gain exposure to how stories, lived experiences, and strategic communications can be used to build understanding, strengthen partnerships across institutions and communities, and drive culture and mindset change. PASO’s work is dynamic and constantly evolving, with opportunities to be part of shaping new ideas and approaches. Much of the work involves strategy thinking, navigating complex, real-world challenges, and working across different perspectives. There is often no single “right answer”, and progress may not always be immediately visible — but this also means you’ll be working at the forefront of change, where your thinking and contributions can meaningfully shape how things develop. This role offers a unique opportunity to explore communications beyond marketing and publicity – using storytelling as a tool for advocacy, engagement, and systems change.
