As an Intern within Treasury Financial Control & Advisory (TFCA) – Business Solutions & Control, you'll have the opportunity to work at the intersection of finance, risk management, controls, and technology. You'll develop your analytical and technical skills while contributing to initiatives that strengthen the bank's control environment, drive digital transformation, and support the integrity of trading activities across Global Markets. How You Succeed To excel in this role, you'll need to be curious, analytical, and passionate about both finance and technology. You'll work closely with experienced professionals to support control monitoring, project implementation, and digitalisation initiatives. Your ability to analyse data, solve problems, and leverage technology to improve processes will help deliver meaningful outcomes while deepening your understanding of financial markets and treasury operations. What You Do Your responsibilities will include: Control Monitoring: support the review and testing of controls across various daily monitoring processes to ensure the effectiveness of the bank's control framework Trade Surveillance & Investigation: assist in investigating internal trade cancellations and analysing trading activities to support rogue trading prevention and control monitoring Internal Controls Review: participate in annual reviews of internal controls and support audit-related activities to understand effective control design and governance practices Project & Change Management: support projects impacting control monitoring processes, including testing, implementation, and change management activities Digital Transformation: assist in the implementation and transition of initiatives relating to the TFCA Digital Platform and other automation projects Application Development & Automation: develop or enhance solutions using technologies such as Python, SQL, Hadoop, Machine Learning, StarBurst, Power BI, QlikView, and other analytical platforms Data Analytics & Insights: analyse large datasets to identify trends, support decision-making, and improve operational efficiency and control effectiveness Team Collaboration: participate in team discussions, knowledge-sharing sessions, and brainstorming activities to support innovation and continuous improvement Ad-hoc Projects: provide support on business, technology, and control-related initiatives as assigned Who You Work With Treasury Financial Control & Advisory plays a key role in supporting the Global Markets business by maintaining strong financial controls, overseeing trading activities, and driving digital transformation initiatives. You'll work alongside finance, risk, technology, and business stakeholders who collaborate to safeguard the bank's operations while enhancing efficiency through innovative solutions and advanced analytics. This role provides valuable exposure to how finance, controls, and technology come together within a leading financial institution. Who You Are Open to learning and feedback Strong interest in financial markets, treasury products, and technology Curious, analytical, and detail-oriented Passionate about programming and digital innovation Proficient in Python, SQL, or other programming languages Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills Good communication and teamwork abilities Comfortable working with large datasets and analytical tools Basic understanding of financial markets, treasury products, and trading activities Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Accountancy, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline Learning Objectives This Internship Will Provide You With Exposure to the end-to-end trade lifecycle within the Global Markets business An understanding of the importance of control monitoring and governance over trading activities Hands-on experience supporting control testing, internal reviews, and audit-related activities Exposure to project implementation, testing, and change management processes within a banking environment Opportunities to develop technical skills using Python, SQL, Hadoop, Machine Learning, StarBurst, Power BI, QlikView, and other data analytics platforms Experience applying data analytics and technology solutions to real business and control-related challenges Exposure to digital transformation initiatives and process automation projects Opportunities to learn from experienced professionals across finance, risk, controls, and technology functions Practical experience contributing to meaningful projects that strengthen operational efficiency and the bank's control environment What We Offer Competitive base salary.
