About CaterSpot
CaterSpot is Singapore’s leading corporate food delivery and workplace food platform. We
partner with restaurants, caterers, cafés and food groups to serve companies across daily meal
programs, catering, events and pantry solutions.
As we continue to grow, we are looking for a commercially driven Merchant Acquisition
Manager to expand and strengthen our merchant network across Singapore.
The Role
You will be responsible for identifying, approaching and signing high-quality merchants onto
the CaterSpot platform.
This role requires someone who is equally comfortable walking into an independent
restaurant and speaking directly with the owner as they are presenting to the management
team of a major restaurant chain or catering group.
You must be fluent in both English and Mandarin, with the confidence and ability to
conduct full sales pitches, negotiations and relationship-building conversations in Mandarin
with restaurant owners who may not speak English.
You will manage the full merchant acquisition cycle, from prospecting and pitching through
negotiation, contracting and handover to the onboarding team.
Key Responsibilities
Build and manage a strong pipeline of restaurants, caterers, cafés, bakeries and food
groups.
Acquire merchants ranging from single-outlet independent restaurants to major
restaurant chains and established catering groups.
Conduct sales pitches, commercial discussions and negotiations in both English and
Mandarin.
Build relationships with non-English-speaking restaurant owners and clearly
communicate CaterSpot’s value proposition in Mandarin.
Identify gaps in CaterSpot’s merchant coverage, cuisines, price points and geographic
reach.
Conduct outbound prospecting through calls, emails, referrals, networking and in-
person visits.
Meet restaurant owners, founders, general managers and senior decision-makers.
Negotiate commercial terms, commission structures, pricing and partnership
conditions.
Manage the full sales process from initial contact through contract signing.
Prepare tailored proposals for larger restaurant chains and catering groups.
Maintain accurate pipeline, activity and conversion data in the CRM.
Work closely with Merchant Operations, Sales, Marketing and Account Management
to ensure successful merchant launches.
Represent CaterSpot at relevant industry events, networking sessions and partner
meetings.
Develop long-term relationships with key merchant groups and strategic partners.
What We’re Looking For
Previous experience in merchant acquisition, partnerships or business
development.
Proven experience signing restaurants, retailers, merchants or other business partners.
Fluency in spoken English and Mandarin is mandatory.
Strong ability to pitch, negotiate and close partnerships entirely in Mandarin.
Comfortable speaking with Mandarin-speaking restaurant owners who may have
limited or no English proficiency.
Experience working for a food delivery platform, marketplace, payments company, e-
commerce platform, POS provider or another merchant-focused business is highly
preferred.
Ability to manage both high-volume acquisition of independent merchants and longer,
more complex negotiations with enterprise groups.
Strong prospecting, pitching, negotiation and closing skills.
Comfortable conducting in-person meetings and visiting restaurant and catering
locations across Singapore.
Commercially minded, persistent and highly target-driven.
Strong relationship-building and stakeholder-management skills.
Able to work independently and take ownership of the entire acquisition funnel.
Existing relationships within Singapore’s restaurant, catering or hospitality industry
would be an advantage.
What Success Looks Like
Consistently achieving monthly merchant acquisition targets.
Signing a healthy mix of independent restaurants, multi-outlet brands and strategic
food groups.
Successfully acquiring Mandarin-speaking restaurant owners and operators.
Improving CaterSpot’s merchant coverage across key cuisines, locations and price
categories.
Building a reliable pipeline of qualified merchant opportunities.
Acquiring merchants that become active, high-performing partners on the CaterSpot
platform.
