Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our News Operations team within a dynamic newsroom environment. This role is ideal for a proactive, tech-savvy self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting and is curious about how emerging technologies and smarter workflows can enhance productivity across the newsroom.
You will play a key role in supporting daily newsroom assignments and ensuring smooth editorial operations. Other than your assigned team, you will work closely with editors, producers, and journalists. Beyond routine coordination, you will actively contribute ideas, take ownership of ad-hoc projects, and improve processes, workflows, and overall newsroom effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Support editorial teams with research, scheduling, coordination, and content preparation for daily assignments
Ensure newsroom workflows, processes, and documentation are followed for operational efficiency
Track editorial calendars and coordinate cross-functional projects across teams
Monitor breaking news, trends, and developments, flagging relevant updates promptly
Take ownership of ad-hoc projects aimed at improving newsroom operations, tools, and productivity
Ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the newsroom, including weekdays and weekends when required
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience; experience in a newsroom or media environment is a strong advantage
Diploma or higher qualification
Excellent command of written and spoken English
Strong interest in news, current affairs, and emerging technologies shaping journalism
Comfortable with digital tools and newsroom systems; able to learn new technologies quickly
Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
Ability to manage competing priorities, and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
A proactive self-starter who works well independently and collaboratively
Willingness to work or stand by on weekends or after hours when news events or deadlines require.
