Role Description
This on-site role based in Singapore involves providing comprehensive tribunal secretarial and arbitration support to arbitrators. The Tribunal Secretary and Arbitration Assistant will work closely with international arbitrators based in Singapore and elsewhere in Asia, often as Tribunal Secretary where required, and otherwise assist our arbitrators around the world with administrative, organisational and basic drafting and research tasks, as needed. The role as Tribunal Secretary will typically include:
Verification of submissions (and exhibits) and communications from the parties;
Organisation of documents submitted;
Attending hearings, meetings and deliberations and taking notes,
Invoicing-related tasks; and
Preparation or review and completion of first drafts of routine communications to the parties and of certain sections of procedural orders and awards.
The role will also require the successful candidate to carry out office management, administrative and related tasks in the Singapore office and to provide logistical support to arbitrators, as needed.
Qualifications
Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities effectively.
Able to work with minimum supervision, while collaborating effectively with colleagues, arbitrators and external stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy, consistency and quality of work.
Proactive and resourceful, with a practical, "can do" approach to managing tasks and solving problems.
Excellent people skills and professional judgment, with the ability to build effective working relationships across different cultures and jurisdictions.
Diligent, discreet and trustworthy, with experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
Strong document management, research and analytical skills, with the ability to organise and review large volumes of material efficiently.
3-5 years' post-qualification experience in international arbitration, gained in a leading law firm or arbitral institution.
The candidate must have the right of residence/right to work in Singapore.
