Uni Internship Jan to July 2027 - Model Development of Image Recognition

As an intern you will join the Data Science & AI team to develop computer vision and image recognition solutions for healthcare applications. This internship focuses on building image recognition models that can identify different characteristics of an object, such as colour, texture, and shape, which may be applied to disease and characteristic classification in tongue image recognition. Interns will gain hands-on experience in model development, image processing, and deployment of AI solutions for real-world healthcare use cases. The Selected Intern(s) Will Assist In Following Support data generation and data augmentation activities to facilitate image recognition model development Explore and compare different algorithms and techniques in image recognition and image segmentation Develop image recognition models to identify characteristics such as colour, texture and shape Support the application of image recognition techniques for disease and characteristic classification in tongue image recognition Assist in preparing models for deployment to support practical implementations Communicate data science problems, findings and insights in a business-friendly manner to stakeholders About You Undergraduate currently in Year 2 or Year 3, pursuing a degree in Business Analytics, Business Artificial Intelligence Systems, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline Strong proficiency in Python programming, with solid coding fundamentals Familiarity with version control tools (e.g. Git, GitHub) is desirable Understanding of deep learning concepts, particularly in image data augmentation and model development Hands-on experience with image processing and model deployment using Python for application development Familiarity with web technologies and integration frameworks (e.g. JavaScript, API integration, FastAPI, Spring Boot) is a plus Independent, fast-learner, and self-driven Good team player with strong analytical and communication skills Ability to multitask and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team Passionate and keen to make a difference to re-imagine the future of HealthTech Want a glimpse into life at Synapxe?
